Thermal Expansion Joints

Non metallic ducting joints are flexible connectors designed to provide stress relief in ducting systems by absorbing movement caused by thermal changes. They also act as vibration isolators, shock absorbers and in some cases to compensate for minor misalignment of adjoining ducting or equipment. Materials used include synthetic elastomers, fabrics and other insulation materials.

Advantages of WCIS Expansion Joints:

  • Large movements can be accommodated so fewer joints are required for any given ducting run.
  • Expansion joints are light weight resulting in structural and duct support savings.
  • Slight misalignment can be accommodated without repositioning the ductwork.
  • In the event of accidental damage, on site repairs are relatively simple.
  • Expansion Joints are easy to transport, handle, store and install.
  • Expansion Joints can be manufactured to cover a wide temperature range.

We manufacture Expansion Joints individually to suit each application based on dimensions and operating conditions. The vast majority of applications can be met from one of four standard profiles.

Expansion Joints are designed to absorb three dimensional system movements which can occur five ways in any combination
